Cryorig R1 Ultimate CPU Cooler Review

Introduction

Founded in 2013, Cryorig are a company you may not have heard of just yet, but they seem to be trying to make a big splash, as every new company would. A major difference seems to be that they have actually been around, or in the making since the early 2000’s, a little like ourselves. They have stated openly on their website that members of staff have directly, or indirectly, worked for brands such as Thermalright, Prolimatech and Phanteks.

So this could be a case of trying to give the mainstream a bloody nose, having worked with some of the big names and been unsatisfied? Well maybe, they have stated that on their website too, their initial offerings will be the judge of that, and usually are a statement of intent for any new company. Today’s review is for the Cryorig R1 Ultimate, the flagship and what Cryorig are stating as “nothing else but pure cooling performance”.

The Cryorig R1 Ultimate comes well packed and thoughtfully protected. You get a bundle of accessories including thermal paste and a nice black anodised screwdriver.

The colour scheme is awesome, looking somewhere in between a Noctua NH-D15 and a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3.

The fit and finish is very good, everything feels premium and seems to have a lot of thought put into it.

9.1

The Cryorig R1 Ultimate CPU Cooler is an excellent cooler from a company trying to make a name for themselves. If you look at the Cryorig website it's very modern and well put together, a lot like the Cryorig R1 Ultimate. That is probably the main theme from Cryorig, and by far, they do not look like a small company that have only been around for a couple of years. For us, the Cryorig R1 Ultimate CPU Cooler managed a second place, but we need to be very clear, it wasn't by much at all.
