Introduction
Hardwareslave, like most of the older websites started out of the desire to make amazing rigs, better than anyone else, with the best components in chassis that looked amazing. Of course we are also pro gamers and will dominate everyone with our gaming rigs and our superior skills (cough cough).
Ok, we can be owned online like the best of them, but we are part of that very same community that’s now a global empire, but some things never change, like why we do this in the first place and that’s components like a graphics card!
Pretty much every rig will be pigeon-holed on the quality, cores, RAM, cooler, chipset generation to name a few. They do make for the usual tech wars, Windows and Mac, AMD and Intel, ATI and Nvidia, Call of Duty and the Battlefield series, Xbox and PlayStation, iPhone and Android! The world is crammed with rivalry, but we all agree on one thing, graphics cards are awesome.
Graphics cards are one of the main components that draws us all together and what’s more, the market place knows this. We get some good models that come out, more like variations on a theme. Nvidia really locked down the GTX 900 Series initial release, they made the PCB’s allowing for only minimal modding scope mostly based on branding rather than configuration. AMD are no different, the Fury X for example was a re-branded AMD manufactured card when released by the main vendors.
Well, times have slightly moved on and we have a good number of Nvidia cards with custom two and three fan coolers. We have even seen some decent attempts at copying the Fury X AIL Cooler for some Nvidia cards. We are going to test a couple of the higher end Nvidia GTX980 Ti cards with custom or non-stock coolers before the GTX1080 comes out and today it is the Palit Super Jetstream GTX 980 Ti.
With two large fans cooling the GTX 980 Ti core and in a silver cowl, this should push this superb graphics core even further, so let’s find out.

We had a couple of issues with the sample, namely the packaging was a little tarnished. This was resolved quickly, and we tested a brand new card, the original packaging looked a bit second-hand!
Don’t let this detract from the card, we thought we’d show you the images. We got a replacement card to ensure we had a new and working sample.

If you don't get a couple of AMD HBM graphics cards for your rig, and would prefer a single card set up, this is the card for you. The cooling package and the GPU core speed increase impacts in a really balanced way, but always for the better. It's good-looking too, and the sound performance is as good as a GTX 970, it's only the price you need a strong stomach for. This product is recommended, however it received a lower score than usual due to the packaging issues we have seen. Get a good one and you'll love it!
