Build
The chassis chosen has a lot of non-Server features, but it has sound proofing which should help with any noise from the HDD’s, the PSU and the CPU cooler. There will also be an optical drive but this will be used for ripping to my iTunes or file transfer.
Below is the Cooler Master Silencio RC-550 with the 500W be quiet! Straight Power installed. An interesting and welcome feature of the chassis is the rubber PSU damper which will help reduce vibration and noise further.
Below the Z87M-G43 motherboard is installed showing position and clearances. Being a mATX motherboard, this will provide good space internally for air flow even with a RAID card installed.
The on-board graphics will be used, so no video card is required. Also the Intel Core i3 4130 and the legendary Noctua NH-L12 Low Profile Cooler are installed.
