GeIL at CeBIT 2009

And last of the memory modules to see in action are GeIL green DDR2 series. What’s interesting about them is that JEDEC standard is 1.8v minimum for the working DDR2 modules. Well GeIL managed to produce full functional DDR2 modules working on 1.54v!

You can read more about them here.

So to bring to an end this report, GeIL also showed their DDR2 modules known from before: DDR2 Ultra, Evo-one and Black dragon – high performance gaming modules.

And finally we come to high-performance DDR3 XMP modules from GeIL, optimized to work Intel chipset based motherboards. Modules are made in dual and triple channel configuration, with speed range going from 1333Mhz to 2000 Mhz.

One last thing that I had to mention is active cooling system for RAM modules ‘EVO cyclone’. One of the features are real time system information displayed on LED. With it’s quiet operation at 21 dBA, and EVO cyclone memory cooling system has universal heat sink bracket and clip design which ensures that it can be easily mounted on any system.

So to conclude this of my article, I asked Mr. Hank some quick questions.

I’ve asked him which chip manufacturer they prefer for making high-performance memory modules. Mr. Hank’s answered that they produce their modules mostly from Micron and Elpida, it all depends on their series.

One more thing that I’ve asked is that GeIL support forum is not working. Answer is that it’s under reconstruction, and that it will soon be re-opened with the new interface and layout.

For the end I was interested what future products is GeIL currently researching, and what can we expect in the future? In the future GeIL is researching quite a few things, but rest assured that they will produce nothing more than high quality products like power supplies and also SSD’s.

We’ll just have to wait and see. At the end I leave you with their presentation from their stand.
