We’ll keep the drive caddies installed for the build and as we said at the start, we will not be using our usual Tri-fan cards such as the Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! and instead opting for a Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 480 8Gb graphics card instead. This is more in keeping with the specification and price of graphics card that would be used in a mid-tower budget build, so we are happy that the choice is valid.
The stripped out chassis has a lot of space and could be used as a small water-cooled system, even with a radiator in the front and the exhaust fans in the rear and top panels.
The two 5.25″ drive bays will also take a larger drive bay reservoir, so the Lian-Li PC-K5 does have a couple of decent watercooling options to hand. Interestingly the front fans are on the outside of the chassis and not inside. You’ll get away with just installing a radiator on the inside of the chassis and letting the stock fans provide the airflow if you wanted.

This chassis is suited to first time builds, or even if you are a parent building a first time system for your children. It’s also a good LAN party chassis, and carries the Lian-Li name, that’ll carry some weight on its own. If you want to have decent chassis for your first build or the other situations we have mentioned, the Lian-Li PC-K5WX is definitely worth a consideration.
