Cryorig A-Series A40 AIO CPU Cooler Review

Introduction

You’ve all seen the video on the Cryorig A-Series AIO coolers website, if not, head over and check it out, it’s making a statement and if true, it’s one everyone should take note of. We are not going to test the thermal properties of the motherboard and area surrounding the CPU, we’ll just stick to the usual CPU cooling performance for now, but if the design of the A-Series AIO cooler from Cryorig is based on fact and not thermal trickery, then we should have a very interesting product on our hands.

We have the A40 AIO CPU cooler from the Cryorig A-Series for review today. We are not going to beat around the bush, we really like these guys, they are trying to rock the boat and the consumer always wins out in this situation. Either from Cryorig getting it right, which they are gaining a reputation for, or due to the competition improving what they do, as stated, either way you win.

We are also not going to be shy on the next point, this is uncannily like the NZXT Kraken X61 AIO CPU Cooler but smaller. In fact, the radiator, hosing and base plates are identical in form. The NZXT X61 and little sisters can find their roots growing from the Asetek company, and they have been around for 15 years now. Where it begins to differ is the main party trick. The main pump is not shrouded in the NZXT colour LEDs, its got space and connectors for a third fan, so if you haven’t clicked on the Cryorig A-Series link yet, go have a look at what they are proposing with this addition.

The fans are also different; they are Cryorig fans and the product has distinct Cryorig branding, all good. If you are having doubts, don’t, the world of the internet is saying the NZXT Kraken X61 is offering the best thermal performance of any AIO CPU cooler including us. If Cryorig have used the same core system, look at it this way, they tried to make something amazing even better.

The usually well packaged product from Cryorig with everything you need to get you going.

The fan on the right is the main party trick however. This sits on the CPU pump and cools the surrounding areas at a maximum 3000RPM. This is also a PWM fan, and can be configured for push or pull airflow.

So if you buy this, we think you will be very happy. With the smaller size you also have a greater range of chassis you can fit this in, and the extra fan gives bragging rights if nothing else. When you read the results, the size difference must be taken into account. Maybe not for the stock results, AIO coolers will always give good results there, but in the overclocked results.
