Cryorig A-Series A40 AIO CPU Cooler Review

Sound Level Testing

We used a standard generic digital sound level meter at 15 inches. It is important to note we used the MicroCool Banchetto 101 Chassis for testing which is an open chassis. This means you are hearing the radiator fans unobstructed.

Thermal Paste

We use Arctic MX-2 for all heatsink cooler tests and in fact we use it for all builds, test or otherwise. We run the AIDA64 Engineer stability test as our burn in programme for thermal paste, which allows the paste to spread out and share the love across the mating surfaces. It is worth doing, we always note a drop in throttling after 30 minutes of burn in.

Results

We are going to look at the stock performance first clocked at 3.6Ghz and then an overclock to 4.4Ghz. This should be enough to test the A40 from Cryorig.

Taking the lowest idle as the key, the Cryorig A40 is on top, with an excellent 24 Degrees °C. When you consider the other AIO coolers from the NZXT and Corsair are 280mm radiators and 140mm fans, this is superb. The load temperature is very good too, in second place and only behind the larger Corsair H110i GT.

Is it at the cost of sound performance? Well, not really, considering the fan size difference and the third fan adding to the overall volume, this could have been a lot higher.

Instead, it’s in fourth place, but it’s in scope of the average performance which is pretty good. It beats the Corsair H110i GT as well, this is shaping up well for the Cryorig A40 AIO cooler.

So if you buy this, we think you will be very happy. With the smaller size you also have a greater range of chassis you can fit this in, and the extra fan gives bragging rights if nothing else. When you read the results, the size difference must be taken into account. Maybe not for the stock results, AIO coolers will always give good results there, but in the overclocked results.
