Cryorig H5 Universal CPU Cooler Review

Admin Cooling 3029

Cryorig have capped the heatsink off with a white plastic cover. We don’t think it’s going to clash with many colour schemes, but it may not be to your liking. The fan is secured with the usual torsion clips and rubber damping isolators, which will help with resonance.

The mounting screws are fixed to the mounting base place out of the box. The H5 Universal uses a 4-pin PWM fan header with a sheathed power cable. the heatpipes are very dominant and are sandwiched into the sealed CPU contact baseplate.

The CPU contact baseplate is well machined, but not very shiny. As always, we would always advise rubbing thermal paste into the baseplate before mounting, this will fill a good number of scratches or imperfections that may cause performance issues. You may not see any but this always takes out the guess work. You could consider lapping the baseplate, this also helps to get the best performance out of any CPU cooler, even the stock coolers.

The Cryorig H5 Ultimate CPU cooler scored well, but you would have been compromised on some RAM choices. It is not the end of the world, but if you are a system builder, or have already bought your RAM, you will know it is important. The XT140 fan compromises the H5, but that was the plan. With a good custom fan profile, the Cryorig H5 Universal would stand up to the Cryorig H5 Ultimate, and only fall short in certain circumstances, but not by much.
