Starting with the stock tests, first we have a look at the temperature performance on the X99 setup. Starting temperature is high, and we need to note, it was one of the hottest days of the year during testing. We mitigated this with regular power downs and ambient temperature checks. However, this would have impacted the results marginally.

The Cryorig H5 Universal CPU cooler hovers around the middle of the group, with 65 Degree C the H5 Universal manages to hold some reasonable temperatures and keep some good company with the Scythe Fuma and the Noctua C14S. Stock sound performance is up next and with the temperature results it’s critical the sound performance is good, leaving enough headroom for a custom fan profile.

The Cryorig H5 Ultimate CPU cooler scored well, but you would have been compromised on some RAM choices. It is not the end of the world, but if you are a system builder, or have already bought your RAM, you will know it is important. The XT140 fan compromises the H5, but that was the plan. With a good custom fan profile, the Cryorig H5 Universal would stand up to the Cryorig H5 Ultimate, and only fall short in certain circumstances, but not by much.
