Phanteks PH-TC14S CPU Cooler Review

Sound performance during overclocked conditions is very good too, another third place. The sound performance is pretty flat across stock and overclock tests.

This is pretty good going when you consider the 4.4Ghz overclock on an Intel i7-5820K which as a TDP of 140W at stock settings. Most of the CPU coolers here have a flat sound performance, meaning with the exception of a couple of examples, there’s not much of a difference between load and idle sound performances. This is a credit to most of the coolers on the chart, so if you are near the top, you shouldn’t be disappointed with the cooling and sound performance.

Conclusion

All the coolers on the test charts are good, some are excellent and one or two stand out. The Phanteks PH-TC14S is a good performer, so it’s definitely worth consideration for your next build or upgrade. It does stand out though, it’s a good-looking cooler and has a lot of design and attention to detail in it. It gets a little hot out of the box, but we only use the fan profile provided by the motherboard which is saved so all coolers get the same treatment.

For a single fan cooler it is a little more forgivable to get a little warmer than some of the bigger dual fan coolers, especially under overclocking load conditions for example. The performance of the Phanteks PH-TC14S is definitely there though, a custom fan profile and maybe a second fan if you have the headers and don’t mind the extra airflow,  you will have a capable cooler that looks the part too.
