The plate is not shiny or smooth in any way. It is a little odd to see this but may just be down to the Base Material CPU Direct Contact or C.D.C. Having a core group of PC followers, C.D.C allows no interference between the CPU and the heat pipes of the cooler.

It comes at the risk of corrosion between all the mating surfaces, but this is generally well outside of the life of a component, by a long way.

Nevertheless, we rubbed thermal paste into the contact point first to ensure the rough surface was evened out before mounting. If you rub thermal paste into the surface plate before mounting, this will fill a good number of scratches or imperfections that may cause performance issues.

Test Set Up

We tested the Raijintek Themis CPU Cooler for sound and cooling performance using an i7 LGA2011 set up. We tested two configurations, stock with turbo and over clock with turbo.

Software used for load tests and temperature capture;

  • HWiNFO64
  • AIDA64 Extreme

We ran the AIDA64 Extreme stability test in 30 minute batches and recorded the results. We used the Core Max result as there was typically a variance across the cores of a couple of degrees. We only selected the cache, FPU and CPU tests, so no other component would generate impacting heat during the tests.

Raijintek Themis CPU Cooler Review

Package - 8.5
Performance - 8.8
Price - 10
Consumer Experience - 9

9.1

You can do all this for under £20 and give many of its mainstream competitors at more than double the price, something to think about. If you want big block CPU cooler performance at half the price, this may be for you. From a consumer experience point of view, there isn't anything that bad about this cooler and at the current price, you would be foolish to overlook the Raijintek Themis CPU Cooler as an option for your build.
