We used the Asus Rampage V Extreme Motherboard 6 core overclock pre-set and manually set the DDR4 to 2400Mhz.
The idle and load temperatures have risen and 43C° is high for idle, though not excessively. The load peak temperature of 102C° is pushing the comfort levels of the set up. We are using the PWM defaults as a reference set up, it didn’t really work out for overclocking. With that said, it is easy to manage this and lower the load temperatures at the expense of silence.
The sound levels observed are a different matter, 33.4Db at idle and 42Db load is a very respectable result, though the load sound levels were audible, albeit expected. We also recorded at 21% throttle during the stress test, though it was periodic, it was there none the less. Setting up your own fan profile is a must for overclocking.
Conclusion
When you look at the Raijintek Themis CPU Cooler it holds up well in terms of design and performance. It is quiet, relatively well made, PWM and will look good in some red and silver themed builds.
It is good for a normal build and won’t skin your knuckles trying to fit it either. We found that there were no compatibility issues and the installation was a breeze once the instructions had been read.
It is also good on performance, though we pushed it with a 30% overclock and an Intel i7-5820K and it throttled by 21% at times. 30% is pushing it, and we are not really going to mark the cooler down because of this. Though there are more capable coolers out there that can manage it, the Raijintek Themis CPU Cooler is currently half the price of many of its competitors. We are considering the stock profile here as well, you won’t have much of an issue if you create one yourself.
Currently the Raijintek Themis CPU Cooler is being sold for £19:99 in the UK which is amazing when you think its mixing it up with the likes of the Dark Rock Pro 3 on a single fan configuration. When you think about it, you could buy this, lap the base until it’s mirror smooth and set up a fan profile, then overclock your CPU keeping it nice and stable throughout with this cooler.
You can do all this for under £20 and give many of its mainstream competitors at more than double the price, something to think about. If you want big block CPU cooler performance at half the price, this may be for you. From a consumer experience point of view, there isn’t anything that bad about this cooler and at the current price, you would be foolish to overlook the Raijintek Themis CPU Cooler as an option for your build.
