The Scythe Mugen 5 starts to show its true capability in the overclocking results. Taking the i7-5820K from 3.3/6Ghz stock to 4.4Ghz on air cooling is a considerable jump.
You could say we are getting more than 1Ghz, if you ignore the turbo clock speed, which is a true enthusiast’s overclock in our opinion.
Again, cooling performance is directly impacted by fan speed, which impacts the sound performance. We’ll look at the stock sound performance next, and hope for some good figures there. Just above the average, it squares away some respectable competition, especially for a single fan CPU cooler.

It's no surprise that we like the Scythe Mugen 5 SCMG-5000 CPU Cooler, we like Scythe in general. The Mugen 5 is a very capable cooler, especially in overclocked conditions, and enthusiasts dream. It's also very quiet, and well put together. If you want to add more cooling, you can add a second fan and try for better overclocks. With that said, you can easily go the other way if you want some very quiet and good cooling.
