Test Setup

We have our usual set of tests, synthetic and real world/in game tests. All synthetic tests are carried out three times with the best result taken. All game tests, multiplayer or otherwise, are carried out three times with the best average taken. If the game is an online multiplayer, a ping constantly under 25ms is required before a test is valid.

Intel i7-9700K will provide a good baseline of power without being to overpowered. Though not as good as the 8700K, it’s the price point Intel CPU for gamers at this point.

Synthetic Tests

Real World Tests

  • Doom (OpenGL)
  • Far Cry 5 (In Game Test)
  • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands (In Game Test)
  • The Division (In Game Test)
  • Batman Arkham Origins (In Game Test)
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider (In Game Test)

We tested where possible in UHD and 1080p for both synthetic and game tests. We used the Geforce 398.36 release for all tests and OS and other updates were disabled for the duration of the benchmarking. We didn’t test Vulkan in Doom due to benchmarking application clashes, we can benchmark this given time, but we have limited time on this review. We have kept Batman Arkham Origins as part of the Synthetic tests as it’s an older in-game benchmark, we are also removing it from our tests for future GPU reviews.

Asus GeForce RTX 2080 DUAL OC

Package and Bundle - 8
Performance - 9.1
Price - 7.8
Consumer Experience - 7.9

8.2

We would recommend it, it’s a solid performer and if more games and applications jump on the Ray tracing bandwagon, support and performance should both go in the right direction, up!
