Test Setup
We used the Asus Rampage V Extreme Motherboard with its extreme range of memory settings as a test bed. We used the X.M.P. settings for both 2666Mhz and 2800Mhz tests. This RAM has two XMP profiles which helps when trying to achieve a basic overclock. We have to manually manage the CPU settings as we always use the CPU Turbo capability when testing, something that proved a little challenging with the 2800Mhz XMP profile.
- Operating System – Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

The stock XMP profile on the left is showing the CPU Turbo rate, at 3.6Ghz,with a base clock of 3.3Ghz

We run the gaming tests in 1080p so not to move the focus to the MSI GTX 970 GAMING Twin Frozr V, this should give feedback on the small physical configuration difference.
We should remember that with the Asus Rampage V Extreme you are seeing true Quad Channel memory performance, so your Dual Channel motherboards will not achieve this type of performance. We demonstrated this with the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT White DDR4 memory kit review.
These results are good and the system was stable throughout. Using the 2800Mhz XMP profile there isn’t really any improvement other than memory copy performance. XMP profiles are a good idea, but they came about to allow beginner overclocking, so you should see better manual results.
Latency is also good though the 2800Mhz XMP profile shows the smallest of lags compared to the 2666Mhz stock profile.
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666Mhz 16Gb Memory Review

RAM is one of the main things that can mess up your system, and you'll struggle to find the source of the issue with poor quality memory. Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 however, is globally known as some good solid RAM, and we would agree. Throughout our tests we have no freezing or crashes, speeds were good and with the exception of the XMP 2800Mhz profile, nothing to grumble about.
