Test Setup

We used the Asus Rampage V Extreme Motherboard with its extreme range of memory settings as a test bed. We used the X.M.P. settings for all memory tests in this review. Selecting the XMP 3000Mhz profile turned off the CPU Turbo option by default, enabling it would result in an overclock to 4.5Ghz, so we kept this off.

The stock XMP profile is showing the CPU Turbo and base clock rate at 3.625Ghz including the QPI Clock at 125 Mhz. The BIOS BCLK clock also increased to 125 using the XMP profile.

Synthetic Tests

Real World Tests

  • Battlefield 4

We run the gaming tests in 1080p so not to move the focus to the MSI GTX 970 GAMING Twin Frozr V, this should give feedback on the small physical configuration difference. We have only tested Battlefield 4 with the Crucial Ballistix Tactical 32GB DDR4 3000Mhz kit, the FPS differences can be too great from session to session, so memory performance differences can be hard to spot. We will use a synthetic test in the future.

Crucial Ballistix Tactical 32GB DDR4 3000Mhz Memory is a decent 32Gb kit. With the 3000Mhz speeds and the relatively tight timings compared to the others in the test, it offers good speed, capacity and response times for your system. Paired with a balanced system, this will only serve you well, however if you want to upgrade your system, the Crucial Ballistix Tactical 32GB 3000Mhz Kit is enough of a performance jump over a 2400Mhz kit to not notice the difference.
