There are three PCI Express x16 slots, running at x16, x8 and at x4. There are also three PCI Express x1 slots all at PCIe Gen3 specifications. The motherboard is well laid out and has some nice passive VRM coolers, and part of Gigabyte’s Thermal Armour branding.
We are counting six PWM fan heads, one of which is marked as a water cooling pump header. It’s good to see so many PWM fan headers on one board, it’s been lacking over the past few years from most manufacturers and seems to be making a comeback.
The onboard audio is taken care of using the Realtek ALC1220 and a Smart Headphone AMP, Smart according to Gigabyte of course. Lastly, yes, it’s also RGB, we are not going to review any aspect of its RGBness, but it does look good and has a lot of options in the BIOS, and a couple of RGB (RGBW) LED strip headers.

A solid performer from Gigabyte, though an unnecessary upgrade for some, it keeps you on the Intel upgrade path, a bumpy and dangerous (for your bank balance) path. The motherboard is a good product let down but a light touch bundle and the biggest issue for us, this is Gigabyte Rev.01, or Revision 1. Gigabyte has been doing this for years, and for anyone who runs out and gets a Gigabyte motherboard at its launch and doesn't know this, it can be very frustrating.
