Asustor use an Intel Celeron N3050 14nm dual-core CPU with 2Gb of DDR3L-1600 memory. This is provided by eight Samsung K4B2G1646Q-BYKO chips divided equally on both sides of the motherboard. The Intel CPU has a clock speed of 1.6GHz and bursts up to 2.16GHz with a TDP of just 6W. Released in Q1 2015, the Intel Celeron N3050 is aimed at the mobile computing sector, laptops and low power and integrated implementations, suited to a NAS, though packing a lot of power.

The Intel Celeron N3050 has two cores and has a TDP of 6W, though Intel’s specification on the CPU has a Scenario Design Power (SDP) of 4W. It’s suitable for passive cooling and in the AS3102T, will have some fresh air owing to the airflow design of the case.

The riser card for the HDD installation is modular, so other products in the Asustor range can easily be built from the same motherboard configuration. It plugs into a PCIe slot on the motherboard, the only expansion slot available.

The monitoring integrated controller is an ITE IT8728F. This is a mainboard level of IC and is good to see an off the shelf element, something we have all used on various motherboards in the past. The NAS flash memory is by ADATA, model number ADATA IUM01-512FHL. ADATA state on their website, Flash Modules (IUM01) are designed for industrial computers with special specifications and applications. Next to the ITE IT8728F is a PWM 4-pin fan header powering a YS Tech FD127025HB 70mm rear exhaust fan.
