Asustor AS3102T 2-Bay Network-Attached Storage Review

Admin Network Attached Storage 3587

Installation

We have installed two Samsung HD103UJ 1Tb drives for this test. Old but solid drives, no errors or issues with them, an example of what to do with some old disks, stick them in a NAS and get some network storage!

There is enough of an air gap to allow airflow between the two disks, and plenty around them too. The setup is standard for a 2-bay NAS, the thumbscrews are a nice touch though.

Initial Setup

You’ll need to use the Asustor Control Center (ACC) application, either download or use the disc provided. We would always recommend using the download as it ensures the latest version and these days at least, many system builds are omitting an optical drive.

The ACC application will auto discover your Asustor AS3102T and it also provides easy accessible features and function for your new NAS once up and running. We used the ACC application to map the drives, It also allows ADM updates, which we did before reviewing to AS31XX_2.7.1.RFT5. ADM 3.0 Beta is also available, and this looks like a larger revision than normal. We’ll come back to that in a future article.
