Interface
Once the initialisation is complete you will be taken straight to the “Desktop” with further attempts to access via the browser being directed to the login page.
If you’ve used a NAS in recent years the interface will feel familiar. We used Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer, as well as Google Chrome to interface with the NAS. We had no issues with the browsers mentioned.
The interface is fast, it looks good and is intuitive. With all the icons placed on the desktop it’s very tablet friendly via an internet browser. You do have iOS and Android apps, and specifically the remote app is a must for anyone using their NAS as a multimedia interface, and plugging the NAS in to your AV setup using the HDMI. You will also find AiMaster a useful app, though it has a reduced option setup currently.
A quick tour around some of the off the shelf apps and system configuration options. We suspect most users will launch App Central and start downloading the numerous Asustor and 3rd Party apps. Asustor bundle a lot of features into the stock build already such as ADM Defender, various networking features, power management and backup and restore functionality.
