ExpressVPN are putting themselves in a multi-platform position, with several plans and several setups, it’s very mature looking and as we stated before, in a good state of readiness. There’s quite a lot there, mainly the unlimited aspects of the service, and the number of countries to connect to. We will be testing in the UK, with a connection to the Reading server, though we did test connections to other countries.

On the face of it, it’s a Linksys WRT1200AC Router with a customer firmware. The Linksys WRT1200AC is a good solid router from Linksys and has everything you need to get up and running. We always thought the WRT1200AC design was a little harsh, or obviously a piece of networking technology, but in the flesh, it’s very striking and has a bit more class than we thought it would.

Just like most components that only have a few actual outputs or functions, the ExpressVPN Router and service do everything they are supposed to without any fuss. That’s going to be our main point here, it was truly seamless, and with the choice of a Linksys WRT1200AC router, throughput performance, or Wi-Fi performance was as expected, good for the type of hardware. Between Wi-Fi testing on an iPad 2 Air, our Server and main test system, we had no issues with any aspect of the ExpressVPN service, in fact it enhanced our internet presence.
