Packaging & Contents
Crucial is steadily refining their branding with a clean and light theme. Inside, it’s their usual low key affair, though you do get an Acronis True Image HD software, a 7mm to 9.5mm drive spacer to help fit the SSD in a laptop and nothing else.
The SSDs construction has changed a little, and most likely, to the relief of us reviewers. Instead of prying the SSD case off, for some nice internal shots, the case is now screwed together. This would have increased cost per unit, but it immediately raises the quality of the SSD, it feels a little more premium, just for this one change alone. Also, no more bending and prying the case off, thanks!
We should note, the design of the case is also subtly different, with some included “bumpers” that seem to also provide an air gap. It’s hard to see, but it may also serve as some subtle ventilation.

It's safe to say the Crucial BX300 is another solid investment from Crucial. SSD's have really come of age, and the third generation of the BX range is more evolution than revolution. There's nothing bad with that at this time, we're only really looking for speed and size, with the former throttled by the SATA bandwidth and the latter on its way slowly, the 480Gb BX300 is as good as you can get just now.
