WEARABLES
Perhaps the hottest topic at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show was wearable technology. As the name connotes, wearable technology can broadly be defined as a feedback-providing smart device attached to your body. Leading examples include Google’s Glass eyewear, exercise bands such as the Fitbit and Nike Fuel, and smart watches from Pebble, Qualcomm, and Samsung, amongst others.
Such devices provide varying degrees of feedback and information to the consumer, use either simple schedulers or full-blown implementations of the Android operating system, and are hugely varied in design and build. But whether they’re complex or simple, wearable technology needs to have excellent battery life, straightforward functionality, and low cost.
