Lian-Li PC-K5WX Ebonsteel Mid Tower Chassis Review

Admin Chassis 2497

The chassis is coated in a black finish throughout, and feels hard wearing. The feet included are tall enough to be placed on carpet, so airflow shouldn’t be an issue. The PSU dust filter is only removable from the underside rather than having a small plastic tab that is accessible from the rear of the chassis. Not too much of an issue but certainly different from most chassis with PSU removable dust filters.

Internal Shots

The 5.25″ drivers are not removable as stated before, but are the tool-less type. There isn’t too much in the way of internal cabling, due to the smaller IO panel. This is actually a bit of a relief sometimes; It can be tricky to cable manage a lot of cables from the IO panels to the motherboard etc.

Lian-Li PC-K5WX Ebonsteel Mid Tower Chassis Review

The Lian-Li PC-K5 has all the basics you would expect, and will support longer graphics cards, though you will lose some storage capability. There’s a big CPU opening at the rear and enough holes to support good cable management. The holes have rounded steel rather than grommets, none of them had any sharp edges, so again, not too much of an issue.

This chassis is suited to first time builds, or even if you are a parent building a first time system for your children. It’s also a good LAN party chassis, and carries the Lian-Li name, that’ll carry some weight on its own. If you want to have decent chassis for your first build or the other situations we have mentioned, the Lian-Li PC-K5WX is definitely worth a consideration.
