CrystalMarkx64 Sequential Write results next and the Lexar Portable SSD performs well and again is faster in all three tests than the Lexar Professional Workflow DD512, but only just. The Lexar Portable SSD performs really well as a USB external drive in these tests, with the added benefit of having no power cable and being lightweight.

As you would expect, the Lexar Portable SSD is behind the SATA and M.2 drives, but with a claimed performance of up to 450MB/s read and 245MB/s write speeds, the CrystalDiskMark results exceed the write claims and come in under the Read speed claims. We will see if this is CrystalDiskMark or whether the speeds are backed up by other benchmarks.

The Lexar Portable SSD is a fast drive, and it is small and compact enough to fit in your pocket. At 62 grams, without the cable, it's also not going to cause a lot of backpack or suitcase issues. There are plenty of portable SSD's out here, and unless you are transporting a sizable back up, you need to consider an SSD external drive, and this is where the Lexar Portable SSD comes good. It's fast enough to be impressive and it's cheap enough to be affordable.
